The long wait for the Discmania MD4 has finally arrived (4/21/17) and let us tell you, it was worth it! This disc is overstable and has an exceptional amount of glide for a Mid-Range disc along with being very predictable on its flight path. The stability given on the Discmania MD4 is perfect for any beginner, intermediate or even expert Disc Golf Player. The ability to control a hyzer line, or shoot a fading shot allows for anyone to bring their game up that truly reinvents your game.
Speed: 5 | Glide: 4 | Turn: 0 | Fade: 3 | PDGA Approved
If your faced with a strong headwind and looking to navigate towards the basket with an approach shot, the Discmania MD4 will be perfect to pull out of your bag. The ability to cut through winds is one of its best traits. The disc is even more overstable than the previously disc made, the MD3. It consistently surprises us with excellent amount of glide where we would almost change it to 4.5 glide.
A lot of Discmania fans were asking for an overstable Mid-Range disc and they surely delivered. Advanced players can get up to 400+ distance from this disc and love to throw anny flex shots that are reliable to come back on every throw.
Plastics Available For The Discmania MD4
Simon Lizotte was very happy and proud to announce the MD4 was going to become one of his signature discs; one which was previously made, the Crescent Falcon 2. Remember, these types of discs are higher in price because it helps Simon pay the bills and kick-back for touring across the United States playing Disc Golf. Discmania states: “Simon will receive a substantial portion of every Signature Series Crescent Falcon Glow C-line MD4 sold so help out your favorite player.”
A key feature on the Discmania MD4 is the blunt nose with a micro-bead providing support to your hand on those strong throws. The height is relatively low for a mid-range that provides some great over stability in the disc.
Who bags the Discmania MD4
Well it’s pretty obvious Simon Lizotte bags the MD4, the Crescent Falcon to be exact in the C-Line Glow plastic. He uses this plastic since it’s slightly more overstable than the other MD4’s in other plastic. Simon pulls this Mid Range disc out of his bag for those high wind situations.
Eagle McMahon does not currently bag the MD4 as he sticks with his signature disc in the MD3 model. He has never been in favor of the MD4 even in 2018 he didn’t bag it. The disc is just a little too stable for his liking.
The Discmania MD4 Disc is definately more stable than most mid-range discs. Everyone loves how the disc will always hold a line when throwing. The top of the disc is very flat and have a very little bead on it.
On a hyzer release, the disc is very overstable and holds the line perfectly and is perfect for a nice headwind. Releasing the Discmania MD4 flat it goes straight for a little bit and then hooks off to the left showing it’s overstability in the flight. Using an anhyzer release, it hold the anny for quite a while and then turns to flat with a gentle soft landing.
While everyone tries to peg what the MD4 compares the best to in other manufactures we believe it resembles the Dynamic Discs Verdict the most. As a Gator it’s not as over stable and a ROCx3, but it will have higher glide and that’s long mid-range disc.
