The Discraft Surge SS is a more understable of the popular Surge. What's the difference between the two? The SS has a straighter edge and is "Super Straight" that provides enhanced control. It's a more beginner-friendly option for players to easily get the max distance out of the disc with relatively light arms. This disc is perfect for forehand and backhand drives.
Speed: 11 | Glide: 5 | Turn: -1 | Fade: 2 | PDGA Approved
The Surge SS is a Distance Driver that's more stable than it's brother, Surge. The SS standing for Super Straight or Super Stable provides an easier throwing experience for beginner players. If the original disc was too much for you, grab the SS as it will be sure to fit your needs. The straighter edge allows for a controllable at slower speeds that still goes a long way.
PLASTICS AVAILABLE FOR THE Discraft Surge SS
This disc hasn't taken off, but you might want to grab it off the shelf before Discraft discontinues it. With all the new releases, the Surge seems to be fading but has been a very popular disc in the past that might have the fate of dinosaurs and become extinct. Here are the current offerings of the Surge SS:
- Elite Z Surge SS - $13.99
A Member of Team Discraft, Liz Carr enjoys using it as a controlled fairway driver and long anhyzer shots. She gets great flippy hyzer S shots just like the original Surge but doesn't need to force a powerful throw to obtain. If there is an obstruction where Liz cannot utilize her footwork she throws the Surge SS, but if a "running start" is available she uses the brother disc. Another member of Team Discraft, Barrett White likes the slightly sell overstable finish. It fits perfect for longer left to right curved shots that didn't require any adaptation to an entirely different profile.
Here is what Discraft has to say about the disc:
A max distance driver for players who don't have quite enough snap to maximize the original Surge's potential. The Super Straight Surge SS™ delivers all the glide that players have come to expect from a Surge,™ with a straighter edge to enhance controllability at slower speeds. Goes a long way with less effort!

One of the best midranges I’ve ever thrown, it has a great flight and I think is one of the longest midranges in the game. Has that dead straight flight but has a good amount of torque resistance and a nice little fade at the end of the flight.
Love this disc! It’s a bomber! You can hyzer flip it for days! Been getting my longest throws with this disc.
They are always great I love all the different styles I collect them all the colors are fantastic
I ordered a mystery disc, and got a prodogy ace line d us .. liked it and ordered another mystery disc just to get the exact same disc.. not sure if that happens a lot but it makes me contemplate a third order! Love the discs though
Bushwhackin through every course with my captain raptor makes me feel just like my fav pro Paul Ulibarri. If its not in the bush, you’re not a captain.
Again I got my order and the super color buzz was on point. I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve ordered from your store and I’ve ordered quite a few mystery boxes.
Awesome selection discs, overall well rounded distribution of stability and speed. Will definitely buy another box!
Buzzz Supercolor (Love at First Ace)
This disc is a option for an overstable midrange, and in this plastic it is even better. It is both durable and with a decent grip!
It made my day when I received it
I parked it on my first throw with it on about a 430 ft hole
This disc is sick
Really love the Paradox, nice under stable disc and great for a short roller when needed!!!
Great overstable mid range.
