 Innova Destroyer Cover Banner

Excellent for sidearm throwers and was the first 12 rated disc for speed in the Innova Distance Driver collection.  The Destroyer is the most popular disc in the world by amateurs and professionals!  It's a very fast and stable driver, but beware, beginners, you may struggle to play disc golf with this disc. That being said, the ability to take high torque throws makes for monster distance off the tee!  With this disc being so popular they make it in almost every plastic they can think of!

Best Choice for: Maximum Distance, Long Hyzers, Headwind Drives

Speed: 12   |   Glide: 5   |   Turn: -1   |   Fade: 3   |   PDGA Approved

Innova's Review of the Destroyer

The Destroyer is a very fast stable long distance driver. This disc is much like a faster Wraith, but with a little more high and low speed stability.

This disc has been produced since June, 26th 2007 and doesn't seem to be slowing down one bit in flight or production.  The name and designs have changed, but the disc itself gliding through the air hasn't. Here are the current plastics still being produced:

Innova DX Destroyer

DX PLASTIC

  • Least expensive
  • Widest selection of models and weights
  • Excellent grip in all weather situations
  • Breaks in overtime
Innova Pro Destroyer

PRO PLASTIC

  • Provides an improved grip over our Champion line plastic
  • More durable and retains flight characteristics longer than our DX line
  • More economic than our Champion or Star line Plastic
  • Increased glide
Innova Champion Destroyer

CHAMPION PLASTIC

  • Ultra-durable
  • Wears slowly retaining flight characteristics
  • Suitable for more powerful throwers
Innova Blizzard Champion Destroyer

BLIZZARD CHAMPION PLASTIC

  • Ultra-durable
  • Wears slowly retaining flight characteristics
  • Suitable for more powerful throwers
  • Lightweight
Innova GStar Destroyer

GSTAR PLASTIC

  • Provides predictable performance
  • Long-lasting durability even on wooded or rugged courses
  • Good all-weather grip
  • Ideal for those who like the durability of Champion plastic with the superior grip of Pro plastic
  • Retains flight characteristics longer than DX or Pro Plastics
Innova Star Destroyer

STAR PLASTIC

  • Provides predictable performance
  • Long-lasting durability even on wooded or rugged courses
  • Good all-weather grip
  • Ideal for those who like the durability of Champion plastic with the superior grip of Pro plastic
  • Retains flight characteristics longer than DX or Pro Plastics

Avery is a world-class disc golfer who resides from Hinckley, Ohio touring professionally since 2000.  Bringing home the coveted Disc Golf World Championship title in 2009 has been one of his pinnacle feats. To this day, he still competes at a very high level but has been slightly fading from the competition and been engaged in disc golf clinics and other great additions to disc golf.

With a joint sponsorship from Innova and Discmania, he has had multiple signatures and special edition discs made by both companies.  He bags two different Destroyers in his bag, the Star and Pro.  Star Destroyer is used as a go-to long-range shot where he can control the flight pattern and with the slow-speed stability has a predictable fade.  In practice and occasionally competition he will throw this disc.

Ah now for the competition he brings out his big guns!  While most don't think about pro-plastic as the "best" plastic, it's widely used in competition but doesn't hold up well on the durability side.  Avery has a stack of Pro Destroyers just waiting for the next tournament where he uses them because he trusts them.  The Pro plastic provides him with he believes is additional glide and truly believes one day he will break the world record in distance.

Avery Jenkins - "It has incredible speed & amazing downrange glide that enables it to cover lots of ground for maximum distance."
